Vit Hyper วิด ไฮเปอร์ - chai park rai pood taen jai ying oak huk

Vit Hyper's latest album, i am a big fan of Vit so always look forward to these. The opener "Poo ying luem yark" is a nice basic rock ballad though quite forgettable. "Rerm jark roy" is quite different, a more traditional sounding song with some nice harmonica and a building melody and a good chorus.

"Ma ruk tummai ton nee" is a high point, standard Vit rock ballad territory. Nice melody, warm vocals, big chorus et cetera. I'm sure he can do those songs in his sleep though. "Kor pen khon sood tai" is another rock song but with a bluesy feel though otherwise keeps to the blueprint. "Ma tee lhung wung taeng" is an interesting song, less rock and more lukthung. It works quite well with Vit's low but slightly rough vocals.

Its a decent album but ultimately a bit forgettable. The album lacks a bit of star dust and a really big hit song. It has a number of nice little songs but falls short of the killer blow. Fans will enjoy it though it probably won't convert anyone unconvinced.

CD : Vit Hyper - muk ngai lhai jai lhork luang

Vit Hyper's latest solo album and what i expect from this are a collection of highly listenable yet tough rock-edge lukthung songs. And i am not disappointed. The title track which opens proceedings is typical Vit: robust melodies, gutsy singing and plenty of pop hooks. It also has some nice whistle and keyboards.

If Vit's songs are usually rock influenced then "Doo nang hai doo suer" is straight forward lukthung with a happy melody. I think he is best at the big ballads though with big meaty melodies driven by solid guitar chords, "Ngao kao tar" is an example of that. Driving tune leading into a big chorus, excellent stuff. To be honest i'll never tire of Vit's songs like this.

"Hed phon kon pid" which is the album's best track is similar with melodic progression and tone building up into a climax and a chrorus to die for. This album delivered what was expected and very well, another excellent solo album. To be honest if you want rock lukthung at the harder end of the spectrum Vit Hyper is the best there is.

MV : "Muk ngai lhai jai lhork luang" by Vit Hyper วิด ไฮเปอร์

Song off Vit Hyper's latest album. I was listening to this in the car the other day, the perfect place for this kind of country rock. This is not a bad song though at the moment i prefer "hed phon kon pid".

CD : Various - jatura thung

An album bringing together 4 of R-Siam's male superstars : Luang Kai, Bao We, Vit Hyper and Noo Meter? Sure win! On this album the first 2 songs include contributions by all 4 artists and then each artist has 2 solo songs each. "Pra-kot-karn ruk" starts us off, its a great song... though would probably be better just sung by 1 artist as its a bit jarring when 1 line is sung by 1 artist and the next by another. The choruses when everyone joins in are great. All 4 artists are at the tougher rock end of the luktung spectrum so the song is, as you may expect, muscular.

As Vit Hyper is my favourite male singer i naturally checked out his solo songs first, "Aow ngao kao laek" is typical Vit. Great slow paced song but you always feel the producers have "wittalai lhai jai" in the back of their minds and are trying to reproduce it, though its one fantastic song to try and do that to of course. I also love Noo Meter's songs and "Plien ber plien jai" is a great example of his work, smooth and expressive vocals in a song that builds and builds into something special.

"Krai chai hai pai ruk kao" by Luang Kai starts off with some muscular guitar and then into his gutsy vocals. Powerful chorus again. This whole album shudders with testosterone. Bao We's "Fai kub narm" starts off a bit softer but then suddenly the guitars crash and we are into power rock luktung again. You know this album is fantastic if not that subtle. Great stuff from start to finish.

MV : "Ying rai chai lew" by Vit Hyper วิด ไฮเปอร์

A great album that came out at the end of last year was Jatura Thung. It featured new songs by 4 RS male singers : Noo Meter, Luang Kai, Bao Wee and Vit Hyper. Two songs which are quartets and then each singer has 2 solo songs each. Here is one of Vit's songs. I love all 4 singers but especially Vit who is The Man as far as i am concerned!

CD : Vit Hyper - koh vit

We loved Vit Hyper's solo album from last year especially with it's iconic tune "wittalai lhai jai" which was one of our top 3 favourite songs from last tear. This is the follow-up and it sounds like Vit knew he was onto a good thing and has produced a very similar album.

Whether it is on slower songs like "new nang kang kwa" or faster rockier songs like "sarm cha" you could probably mix these songs with the previous album's and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. That is not a criticism though, just an acknowledgment that Vit has found his groove and is sticking to it. None of the songs really stack up to "wittalai..." though there are a couple of attempts to come close to it. Overall the album is better balanced and is a truly excellent listen.

Some men are ...well... men. Other men are gods. Vit is the god of dreadlocks. Enjoy.

CD : Vit Hyper - wid chanid pised

Vit, of Thai rock group Hyper (hence the name), released a new solo country rock album earlier this year, headed by the fantastic song "wittalai lhai jai" which was one of our favourite songs of the year (actually it was #2) and also had a great MV (pic from which is below). The song has an infectious melody and a great chorus driven by Vit's low smooth vocals.

That wasn't the only highlight, "kuen nee mai glub" is among the other great tracks on here, its a very well crafted album and Vit is another guy who looks great with dreadlocks.
